CRITICAL TECHNICAL NOTE FOR TRAINEES:
DeskJet / Inkjet printers DO NOT HAVE an OPC Drum. Photosensitive drums exist solely in electrophotographic systems (Laser Printers & Photocopiers). Inkjet printers utilize liquid ink cartridges, timing belts, and micro-nozzle printheads.

2. Equipment & Tool Requirements

  • Printers: Operational Laser Printer (Monochrome/Color) & Inkjet / DeskJet Printer.
  • Laser Servicing Kit: Replacement OPC Drum Roller / Unit, Lint-Free Microfiber Cloth, Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA 99%).
  • Inkjet Refill Kit: Dye/Pigment Ink Bottles (C, M, Y, K), 10ml Syringes with blunt needles, Hand Drill/Pusher Tool, Rubber Plugs / Sealing Tape.
  • Safety Gear: Disposable Nitrile Gloves, Safety Glasses, and Protective Table Cover.

3. Step-by-Step Procedure

PART A: Laser Printer OPC Drum Cleaning & Replacement

  1. Power off the laser printer and disconnect the main AC supply cord. Allow 10 minutes for the fuser unit to cool.
  2. Open the front main door and carefully pull out the combined Toner/Drum assembly track.
  3. Press the release lock lever to separate the toner cartridge from the OPC drum cage.
  4. Cleaning: Inspect the blue/green OPC cylinder for toner dust. Gently rotate the gear and wipe the drum roller horizontally using a dry, soft microfiber cloth. Never use alcohol directly on OPC coating unless recommended.
  5. Replacement: Unbox the new OPC drum. Slide the toner cartridge firmly into the new drum unit until it clicks into place.
  6. Reinsert the assembly into the printer, close the cover, power on, and print a test page to verify image clarity.

PART B: Inkjet Printer Cartridge Replacement
