3. Step-by-Step Procedure
SECTION A: Cassette Disassembly & Cleaning
1. Remove the empty ribbon cassette from the printer and place it on a clean work surface.
2. Wearing protective gloves, carefully insert a flathead pry tool under the plastic locking tabs on the casing.
3. Lift off the top cover lid to expose the internal drive gears, tension spring, and ribbon chamber.
4. Take out the worn-out ink tape and clean any accumulated ink sludge or paper dust using IPA and a cloth.
SECTION B: Routing & Loading New Ribbon Fabric Tape
1. Unpack the fresh fabric ribbon tape carefully, keeping the holding ring/clip intact temporarily.
2. Thread one end of the fabric tape between the two drive pinion gears (interlocking feed wheels).
3. Ensure the tape maintains its characteristic 180-degree half-twist (Mobius loop) for dual-sided ink utilization.
4. Gently press the bulk ribbon stack into the storage compartment and feed the remaining loop through the external guide arms.
SECTION C: Reassembly, Tensioning & Print Verification
1. Verify that the internal leaf spring/tension wire rests properly against the ribbon feed gear.
2. Align the top cover lid over the bottom shell and press firmly until all side clips snap shut.
3. Manually turn the ribbon feed knob clockwise to verify that the ribbon advances smoothly without jamming.
4. Reinstall the cassette into the printer and execute a Self-Test print page to confirm rich, uniform character printing.
