AIM :- Installing Windows 7 or Windows 8



Step 1: Boot from Media

  1. Insert your bootable USB or DVD.

  2. Restart the PC and tap the Boot Menu Key (usually F12, F9, or Esc) repeatedly.

  3. Select your USB or DVD drive from the list and press Enter.

  4. When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or USB...", press any key immediately.

Step 2: Initial Setup

  1. Select your Language, Time, and Keyboard method. Click Next.

  2. Click the Install Now button.

  3. Accept the License Terms and click Next.

Step 3: Installation Type

  • Choose "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)". This is the standard method for a fresh installation.

Step 4: Partitioning the Hard Drive

  1. Select the Unallocated Space or the existing partition where you want to install Windows.

  2. If you want to wipe the drive, click Drive options (advanced) -> Format or Delete.

  3. Click Next to begin the installation.

Step 5: Finishing Up

  1. The computer will restart several times. Do not press any keys during these restarts.

  2. Once finished, follow the prompts to create a Username, Password, and select Time Zone settings.


Part B: Installing Windows XP

Windows XP uses a text-based blue screen for the first half of the setup.

Step 1: The Blue Setup Screen

  1. Boot from the XP CD.

  2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press Enter to start the installation.

  3. Press F8 to agree to the Licensing Agreement.

Step 2: Partitioning

  1. Use the arrow keys to select the partition or unpartitioned space.

  2. Press C to create a partition or Enter to install on the selected one.

  3. Choose "Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick)" and press Enter.

Step 3: The Graphical Interface

  1. After the files copy and the system restarts, a graphical window will appear.

  2. Click Next on the Regional and Language Options.

  3. Enter your Name and Organization.

  4. Enter the Product Key (25 characters).

Step 4: Final Configuration

  1. Set the Computer Name and Administrator Password.

  2. Adjust the Date and Time settings.

  3. Once the desktop appears, the installation is complete.
