1. AIM OF THE EXPERIMENT

To perform a live demonstration and practice standard first aid procedures and artificial respiration techniques (Mouth-to-Mouth / CPR) for an electric shock victim in an IT/Hardware lab setting.

2. REQUIREMENTS (TOOLS & APPARATUS)

First Aid Kit Equipment

• Antiseptic lotion (Betadine / Savlon)
• Burn ointment (Burnol / Silverex)
• Sterile cotton, gauze bandage & adhesive tape
• Bandage scissors & tweezers

Safety & Demo Equipment

• CPR Training Mannequin (or trainee partner)
• Dry wooden stick / Insulated rubber rod
• Clean face shield / Antiseptic mouth barrier
• First Aid Chart / Safety Poster

3. EXPERIMENTAL WORKFLOW DIAGRAM

1. ELECTRIC ACCIDENT OCCURS (Victim attached to live power source)

2. ISOLATE POWER: Turn off Main Switch / Mains Switchboard OR push wire away using a dry wooden stick. DO NOT touch directly!

3. CHECK VITAL SIGNS: Assess Consciousness, Breathing, and Carotid Pulse

✔ IF BREATHING NORMAL:
• Turn victim to Recovery Position (Side)
• Loosen collar, belt, and shoes
• Keep warm & monitor until help arrives

✘ IF NOT BREATHING / NO PULSE:
• Call Emergency (108 / 112) immediately
• Start CPR / Artificial Respiration instantly!

5. METHODS OF ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION

Method Name	Practical Procedure	Application Condition
Mouth-to-Mouth	Tilt victim's head, pinch nostrils, seal mouth over victim's mouth, and blow until chest rises. (10–12 breaths/min).	Standard direct method when no facial injury exists.
Holger-Nielsen Method	Lay victim face down. Press shoulder blades to exhale air; pull elbows upward to inhale.	When mouth or face has chemical/thermal burns.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)	Press center of chest 2 inches deep at 100–120 compressions/min. Maintain ratio: 30 Compressions : 2 Rescue Breaths.	When both respiration and pulse have stopped.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS DURING PRACTICAL

• Never touch an electric shock victim with bare hands while they are connected to a live power line.
• Do not perform heavy chest compressions on a conscious person during practice.
• Always use a clean barrier cloth or face shield during mouth-to-mouth resuscitation practice.

PRACTICAL RESULT / CONCLUSION

Successfully demonstrated and practiced first aid procedures and artificial respiration methods (Mouth-to-Mouth & CPR). Understood all necessary safety protocols for electric shock emergencies in the ICTSM lab.
