Industrial Visit to BISAG-N: A Day of Innovation and Learning

On March 23, 2026, trainees from the ICTSM and HNA trades of ITI Maninagar (Khokhra) embarked on an insightful industrial visit to the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N) in Gandhinagar.

This visit was organized to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world technological applications, providing students with a front-row seat to India’s advancements in space technology and GIS.

Key Highlights of the Visit

  • Satellite Communication: Trainees observed massive satellite dish antennas and learned about the infrastructure required for broadcasting and geo-spatial data transmission.

  • Studio & Broadcasting: The group visited the high-tech studio facilities (including the green screen setup) used for educational telecasting, gaining insight into video transmission and network management.

  • Interactive Sessions: Expert speakers conducted sessions on how geo-informatics is used for sustainable development and national planning.

  • Real-world Infrastructure: Students saw firsthand the server setups and networking hardware that support large-scale data applications.

Benefits to the Trainees

The visit provided several key advantages for our ICTSM and HNA students:

  1. Practical Exposure: Students moved beyond textbooks to see how network administration and hardware maintenance function at a national-level institute.

  2. Career Inspiration: Interacting with scientists and technical experts opened their eyes to high-level career paths in space applications and IT infrastructure.

  3. Understanding GIS: Trainees learned the importance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and how ICT tools are essential for mapping and data analysis.

  4. Workplace Culture: Experiencing a professional environment helps students understand the discipline and technical standards required in the industry.

We extend our gratitude to the faculty members for coordinating this successful educational tour.
